We headed out into Doncaster yesterday to ask a quick street question for one of the “What makes you happy?” video series.
Our simple question quickly turned into one of the most wholesome moments we’ve filmed to date.
Meet Deya Andreaa, a 26-year-old mum and make-up artist living in Doncaster. Originally from Romania, Deya moved to the UK nine years ago to build a life for herself and her child.
Now running her own business, Beauty by Deya, she had a simple idea ahead of Mother’s Day this Sunday: give away 100 roses to 100 women across Doncaster to inspire more acts of kindness across the city.
@wearethedon Today; the video started with a ‘What Makes you Happy?’ and turned into the most wholesome video to date 🤍 Deya, 26, make up business owner had the idea to give 100 roses away to 100 women, with Mother’s Day coming up this Sunday 🥰 Who absolutely loved this? 🌹 #TheDon

Deya wanted to honour her own mum ahead of Mother’s Day. “One of my favourite things about my mum is that she loves flowers, and so do I”, she explained. Giving out 100 of her mum’s favourite flowers was her way of celebrating motherhood and spreading joy in the city.
Deya even bought all 100 roses from a stall on Doncaster Market, choosing to support local traders while bringing her idea to life.
Each rose came with a small voucher offering £5 off one of her make-up services, helping introduce more people to her growing business.
With the help of The Don, we headed out into the streets to surprise women across Doncaster with a rose.
Some women were confused, others were grateful, but almost everyone shared a huge smile. The roses quickly turned into moments of connection and kindness.
For Deya, that was the whole point. “What makes me happy is making other people happy”, she told us.
Judging by the reactions we saw, she definitely succeeded.
As Mother’s Day approaches this weekend, the message behind the video is simple: kindness doesn’t have to be big or expensive to make a difference.
Hopefully Deya’s idea will inspire a few more small acts of kindness across Doncaster.
Did you receive one of the roses?
