New openings worth visiting in Doncaster

If you’ve been following The Don, you’ll know we love getting out and about to try as many new places across Doncaster as possible.

We can’t make it to every opening, but we’re always keen to support local businesses and showcase the brilliant independent and new venues popping up across the city.

Here are five that we think deserve a spot on your list.

Specs Gonzales Coffee Shop

Just a five-minute walk from Doncaster Train Station, Specs Gonzales Coffee Shop has quickly become one of the city’s most talked-about new cafés.

Opened by popular YouTuber Specs Gonzales, it’s brought a fresh buzz to the city centre, serving up great coffee in a fun, welcoming space. 

Whether you’re grabbing a drink before your train or meeting friends in town, it’s well worth a visit.

Indus, Conisbrough

Not technically a brand-new opening, but after a major refurbishment, Indus has reopened looking better than ever.

Their transformation is more than impressive, with a stylish new interior that matches the quality of the food. If you’re after authentic Indian cuisine, warm hospitality and a restaurant that feels a little bit special, Indus should definitely be on your radar.

Jamaica Blue Café

One of the newest additions to Lakeside Village, Jamaica Blue Café opened just last month and is already proving popular among shoppers.

Its brunch menu is packed with choice, there’s a great selection of grab-and-go options, and it’s the perfect place to stop for breakfast, lunch or a coffee while you’re out shopping.

This opening marks branch number 30 for the franchise, and it’s no wonder the company is growing so quickly.

Cork & Bubbles

Located on Hall Gate, Cork & Bubbles is a café by day and a wine bar by night, giving you the best of both worlds.

Whether you’re after an iced latte in the afternoon, a catch-up over lunch or a glass of Pinot with the girls at night, it’s a versatile new addition to Doncaster’s food and drink scene.

Nando’s, Lakeside

After being closed for more than a month for renovations, the Lakeside Nando’s is officially back.

The refreshed restaurant reopened on Friday 24 July, much to the delight of Doncaster’s peri-peri chicken fans. If you’ve been waiting for it to return, now’s the perfect excuse to visit.
