Are you really from Doncaster if you don’t know the name Adrian Welch?
Setting up Doncaster’s leading glass and glazing company, Adrian’s signs are notorious throughout Donny.
If you’ve driven anywhere in Doncaster over the last three decades, chances are you’ve spotted the Adrian Welch signage somewhere along the way. They’re now a familiar sight across the city.
We paid Donny legend Adrian Welch a visit earlier this week to hear about his story.
Adrian started working in the glass industry at just 16, setting up his own business 30 years ago. Over the years, he’s grown the business into one of Doncaster’s most recognisable companies.
Despite his huge commercial growth, Adrian decided to keep his business firmly in the city where he grew up.
“It’s been a dream come true,” said Adrian. “Why would I want to move my business anywhere but Doncaster?”
We love to see it.
Adrian gave us a tour of his warehouse, where we got to see how much family ethos actually runs through the company.
His eldest daughter works in company admin, and we even got to meet the most important member of the family – their pet dog Winston.
On the community support for his business, Adrian said: “I want to thank the people of Doncaster for their custom and for keeping this business what it is.”
He’s become somewhat of a local celeb in the city, with one resident commenting: “We all know you’re glazing final boss Adrian!”
It was great to visit a real family establishment still going strong in the heart of Doncaster.
After 30 years in the trade, Adrian has built more than just a business. He’s built a name that’s recognised across the city.
Thanks Adrian, for flying the flag for Doncaster.
